The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the recruitment process in both government and private sectors across India, including West Bengal, for the past two years. However, as the situation gradually improves, both the central and state governments have started recruiting job seekers in various fields. Recently, the West Bengal state government announced the recruitment of 738 librarians across the state, which job seekers have eagerly awaited.
As per the guidelines published by the state government, the official notification for librarian recruitment will be issued on April 3. Interested job seekers must apply online, and the application process will remain open until April 25. Although the required qualifications and documents have not yet been announced, the guidelines state that self-attested documents must be uploaded during the application process. The recruitment process will comprise a written examination, and candidates can download their admit cards on May 11. The written test will be conducted on May 21, with the results being declared on June 5. A computer test will be held on June 21, and shortlisted candidates from the written and computer tests will be interviewed on July 14. The final list of selected candidates will be published on July 20.
While the guidelines do not specify the required qualifications, sources suggest that students who have studied library science or completed relevant courses may be given preference. However, the state government has yet to issue any official guidelines on mandatory qualifications for the librarian recruitment. Nevertheless, job seekers across the state are delighted with the news, and many are eagerly waiting for the official announcement to apply for this coveted position.
