West Bengal Government Launches Bangla Krishi Sech Yojana Scheme to Provide 100% Subsidy on Irrigation for Small and Marginal Farmers!

The state government of West Bengal has recently unveiled the Bangla Krishi Sech Yojana scheme, aimed at extending a helping hand to small and marginal farmers in the state who are grappling with financial constraints and cannot afford to implement an improved irrigation system on their agricultural land. This scheme seeks to offer a 100% subsidy on the cost of irrigation for farmers with landholdings ranging from 0.2 hectares to 2 hectares, while those owning 2 hectares to 5 hectares of land will be eligible to receive a 45% subsidy towards arranging drip or sprinkler irrigation.

In order to apply for this scheme, farmers must approach their nearest agriculture office to procure the application form and submit it with all the requisite documents, which include Aadhaar Card, bank account details, land records or deeds, passport size color photograph of the applicant, and a valid mobile number.

Moreover, the state government is slated to conduct door-to-door government camps commencing April 1, wherein farmers can apply for the subsidy available towards sprinkler irrigation without having to visit the agriculture office. The government has been exhorting farmers to seize this opportunity to improve their irrigation system and consequently enhance their agricultural yield.

This groundbreaking initiative by the West Bengal government is anticipated to provide succor to the distressed small and marginal farmers in the state, facilitating them to enhance their farming practices and augment their income by offering a 100% subsidy on the cost of irrigation to farmers owning less than 2 hectares of land.
