West Bengal Chief Minister surprises employees with office-to-office visit at Navanna
On a recent visit to Navanna, West Bengal's administrative headquarters, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a surprise visit to the fifth floor. The Chief Minister has previously made surprise visits to hospitals to check on their functioning, but this time, she decided to visit government offices. Her visit caught many employees off guard, as attendance rates have been low due to the ongoing DA (Dearness Allowance) agitation.
Upon arriving at the fifth floor, the Chief Minister noticed several empty chairs and questioned the workers about their absence. The employees explained that some were on leave, while others were working in other rooms. The fifth floor houses the offices of the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Mountain Affairs.
The Chief Minister also expressed her displeasure at the sight of the piled-up files on a table. However, the workers explained that the files were related to job compensatory grounds, and they were working on them three by one. Despite her displeasure, the Chief Minister continued to inquire about the work being done.
During the visit, the Chief Minister also clarified that the state government could not provide more than the DA due to ongoing projects in the state. She spoke about the center's refusal to provide additional funds and claimed that they were being deprived of money and lied to.
Several workers were delighted to take pictures with the Chief Minister, with her security guards distributing photographs. After completing her visit to Navanna, the Chief Minister proceeded to Chhatala to take information from other departments. This unexpected visit left a lasting impact on the workers, who were grateful for the Chief Minister's interest in their work.
